READ Orinda, our first ALL AGES, community-wide Read-A-Thon is occurring Saturday, October 6th - Friday, October 12th to promote literacy and community by encouraging Orindans of all ages to read and attend fun reading events for all ages. Also, sign up at https://99pledges.com/fund/readorinda/addme to create your own donation page to share with your friends and family. Everything raised by you goes directly to two important local non-profit organizations - the Educational Foundation of Orinda (EFO) and The Friends of Orinda Library (FOL). EFO funds academic and enrichment resources and programs at all Orinda public schools (K-12th grade), including the middle school librarian. FOL purchases supports library programs and funds 80% of the Orinda Public Library materials.

READ Orinda readers who find sponsors help our schools and libraries by asking others to pledge money in support of their reading efforts. Participants can track their reading minutes and enter them in an online survey by October 15th. The survey is here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/readorinda

Additionally, Reading and Sponsor Log pamphlets will be available at all Orinda school libraries and the Orinda Public Library. Printable versions are posted on EFO's website (https://orindaefo.org/read-orinda).

All participants must meet the October 15th deadline - either online https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/readorinda or by turning in their hard copy logs at the Orinda Library. All results received by October 15th will be eligible for the Awards Ceremony at the Library Plaza on October 18th at 5pm.

Prizes will be awarded for 1) total minutes read, and 2) total funds raised.

Age 5-20: Pizza Party (for up to 10 people)
Age 21+: $50 gift certificate for Friends' Bookstore
* And other prizes for grade levels and adult participants

Age 5-20: Hosted Pizza Pool Party (for up to 30 people)
Age 21+: Hosted Wine and Dine Party with famous local author
* And other prizes for grade levels and adult participants

Special Recognition:
Service Hours (Awarded to those who log the most minutes reading to others in the Orinda community - e.g., homes for seniors)
